Founded in 1996 in Berlin, Germany, J. MAYER H Architects’ studio focuses on works at the intersection of architecture, communication and new technology. Recent projects include the villa Dupli.Casa near Ludwigsburg, Germany and Metropol Parasol, the redevelopment of the Plaza de la Encarnacion in Sevilla, Spain, the residential building JOH3 in Berlin, Germany; and several public and infrastructural projects in Georgia, for example an airport in Mestia, the border checkpoint in Sarpi and two rest stops along the highway in Gori. From urban planning schemes and buildings to installation work and objects with new materials, the relationship between the human body, technology and nature form the background for a new production of space.

Juergen Mayer H. is the founder and principal of this cross-disciplinary studio. He studied at Stuttgart University, The Cooper Union and Princeton University. His work has been published and exhibited worldwide and is part of numerous collections in notable museums around the globe. Juergen Mayer H. has taught at Princeton University, University of the Arts Berlin, Harvard University, Kunsthochschule Berlin, the Architectural Association in London, the Columbia University, New York and at the University of Toronto, Canada.

"When Gaye (Cevikel) saw our "Satellight" for the Marrakesh Arts Biennale in 2012, she immediately had the idea for a collaboration between GAIA&GINO and J. MAYER H. Based on a blurry mix of Turkish calligraphic numbers, data protection patterns and light and shadow, our "1001" lamp will be developed as a set of various objects in different scales for indoor lighting. GAIA&GINO is specialized in high quality and innovative contemporary design which is the perfect environment for accessories that create unique spaces with a special atmosphere. The collaboration between GAIA&GINO and J. MAYER H. was stimulating and full of good dynamics. We are very proud to see our "1001" lamp as part of the GAIA&GINO product family."
